Pyunkang Yul is a Korean skincare brand founded in 2016 by the Pyunkang Oriental Medicine Clinic in South Korea and is currently sold in over 70 countries. An often used glycol that works as a solvent, humectant, penetration enhancer and also gives a good slip to the products. It would have been nice if Hyaluronic Acid + the other components of HA were added to this toner such as Sodium Hyaluronate and Super Nano HA etc (Like the Gokujun Premium Lotion) as that would have really boosted the hydration/humectant efficacy of this product. This product is a bit too simple – but that can be excellent for sensitive skins or skins that get easily inflamed. Although it’s not marketed as an acne treatment, the Astragalus Extract does have some anti-bacterial properties which can help to kill acne causing bacteria. However, this product on it’s own won’t be enough to treat acne, but it can be a great addition to your routine if you are acne-prone.

I have to admit, this toner really is as good as they say it is. I have been applying multiple layers at night, and I wake to smoother skin with reduced flakiness and skin irritation. My skin is very sensitive and prone to breakouts (regular acne and perioral dermatitis). I’ve not had any issues with acne or flare ups since using this product and find that it does help to reduce any redness associated with skin issues.Absolutely! I use retinoids 2-3 times a week in my routine. The Astragalus Extract is amazing for sensitive skin types and can help soothe irritation while you’re using the retinol as well as keeping the skin hydrated so it doesn’t get dry or flaky. If you prefer a more watery toner, then you might want to skip this toner. Otherwise, this is such a great hydrating toner for most skin types. Since there are only seven ingredients in the toner, we’ll review each ingredient and discuss its purpose/benefits. As it is so gentle, includes a small number of actives, layers well and is highly absorbent, it is one of the recommended toners with which to execute the 7-Skin Method.
