Make sure you don’t scrub hard with the sponge though, as this could pull grout out of the grooves. Expansion and movement joints on walls and floors must never be filled with Mapei Ultracolor Plus. Use a suitable flexible sealant from the MAPEI range. Mapei Ultracolor Plus does not contain Portland cement and must not be mixed with gypsum or other hydraulic binders; never add water to the mix once it has started to set. Preparing the mix: While stirring, pour the Mapei Ultracolor Plus Grout powder into a clean, rust-free container containing 21-23% by weight of clean water. Mix the grout with a low-speed mixer to avoid air entrainment, until a smooth paste is obtained. Let the mix stand for 2-3 minutes, and stir again briefly before use. For example, Mapei Kerapoxy IEG (which is compliant with EC regulation 852/2004 relating to hygiene and foodstuffs) is resistant to animal fats, oils and grease, so it’s an ideal grouting choice for meat processing plants and commercial kitchens. Mapei epoxy grouts also emit extremely low levels of VOC, being classified EC1PLUS under the GEV EMICODE. For Decorative Purposes Apply the grout: load grout mixture onto your grout float and generously apply it to the gaps between the tiles. Using diagonal and firm strokes across the tile joints, make sure you press the grout fully into the grooves so it’s filled to the top and evenly distributed. To ensure complete coverage, we’d suggest applying grout to small areas, working your way logically along. Water used in the preparation of the grout may migrate into the stone through the edges, leaving a ‘picture frame’ effect visible on the surface.
